Saskia Howard was born in the North of England in 1968, relocating to Sydney, Australia in 1993. It is the desolate, wild landscape of moors and jagged coastline of her formative years that has made such an impact on her life and work as an artist.
Howard studied Fine Art and Photography at York College of Art, dropping out to run away to London and pursue a career in theatre design. After several years working in London's burgeoning fringe theatre circuit, and exploring the infamous high fashion Soho club scene of the early ‘90s, she moved to Sydney and has since had a long and varied career in arts management. Working previously with Opera Australia and the team at Sydney's Head On Photo Festival, Howard now works for Arthouse Gallery. Her creative work covers film, the written word, digital and mobile photography and she has exhibited and received Honourable Mentions in the 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016 International Mobile Photography Awards. A multi-disciplinary artist with a penchant for sensorial experience, Howard is currently working on a collection of poetry and her first film.
